Context
The challenge
Managing multiple hospitals under a large municipal healthcare organization requires a centralized, scalable system. BMC needed a unified platform capable of handling large volumes of patient registrations, OPD and IPD workflows, inter-department and inter-hospital referrals, pathology and diagnostic reports, blood bank operations, medical certifications, concessions and charity schemes, patient service vouchers, autopsy and mortuary processes, SMS and WhatsApp communication, hospital-specific configuration, centralized master data, and management reporting—while preserving flexibility for hospital-specific requirements across the BMC healthcare ecosystem.
How we worked
Our approach
We delivered a configuration-driven enterprise HMIS that digitizes and integrates healthcare operations across multiple hospitals on a common platform. Instead of hardcoding hospital-specific rules, workflows and business rules are driven through master data—payer classes, service price lists, service mapping, department and voucher configuration, approval chains, and notification settings—so the same product can support different hospitals while allowing each facility to maintain its own departments, services, prices, workflows, and roles.
Delivery
The solution
The HMIS manages the complete patient lifecycle: OPD registration and demographics, clinical services, pathology sample-to-report workflows with verification and release controls, blood bank operations, OPD-to-IPD conversion and patient referrals, multi-level certification approvals, concession/charity/scheme eligibility and payment adjustments, patient service voucher generation, autopsy and mortuary discharge, and automated SMS/WhatsApp communication through a message-broker architecture with scheduled notifications for approved reports. A centralized master-data layer configures payer class, price lists, service maps, hospital and department settings, and approval/notification rules so applicable service pricing and vouchers resolve from configuration rather than custom code per hospital.
